iPhone Water Damage Repair in Phenix City, Alabama

Water damage is a race against corrosion. Our $49 diagnostic includes a full teardown, ultrasonic board cleaning and a corrosion assessment, and that fee is applied to the repair if you move forward. The sooner the phone reaches a bench, the better the odds.

What to do in the first hour

  • Power the phone off immediately and leave it off
  • Do not plug it in — charging a wet board causes shorts
  • Remove the case and dry the outside thoroughly
  • Do not use rice; it does nothing and adds starch dust
  • Do not use a hair dryer — heat drives moisture deeper
  • Bring it in the same day if you possibly can

How the repair works

  1. 1

    Intake

We record what liquid was involved — fresh water, salt water, pool water or a sugary drink all corrode differently.

  2. 2

    Teardown

The phone is fully disassembled and the battery is disconnected to stop ongoing damage.

  3. 3

    Board cleaning

The logic board is ultrasonically cleaned to lift corrosion off the contacts and connectors.

  4. 4

    Assessment

We report exactly what survived, what needs replacing, and what your data recovery odds look like.

Why rice does not work

The rice trick is the most persistent myth in phone repair. Rice absorbs some ambient humidity from the air around the phone, but it does nothing about the liquid already sitting on the logic board — and while the phone sits in that bowl, corrosion is eating the contacts. Starch dust also finds its way into the ports and speaker mesh.

What actually saves a water-damaged iPhone is fast disassembly and proper cleaning. Every hour of delay lets corrosion spread further across the board.

River, pool, or drink? It matters.

Living near the Chattahoochee, we see a lot of river and pool rescues, especially in summer. Fresh water is the most survivable. Chlorinated pool water and salt water are far more aggressive. Sugary drinks are the worst of the group — the sugar hardens into a conductive film across the board and demands a thorough ultrasonic clean.

Tell us what your phone went into when you drop it off; it changes how we treat the board.

Can my photos be recovered?

Often, yes — even when the phone will not power on. If a board can be brought up long enough to boot, we can usually get you to a backup. We are always straight with you about the odds before you commit to anything, and we never charge you for a recovery we could not deliver.

Water Damage Repair questions

How much does water damage repair cost?

The diagnostic is $49 and includes teardown, ultrasonic cleaning and a corrosion assessment. That $49 is credited toward the repair if you go ahead with it.

Can a water-damaged iPhone be saved?

Frequently, especially if it comes in quickly and was never charged while wet. We give you an honest assessment after the diagnostic rather than a guess over the phone.

My iPhone is water resistant — do I still need this?

Water resistance ratings degrade as seals and adhesive age, so a three-year-old iPhone is not as sealed as it was new. If liquid got in, treat it as water damage regardless of the rating.
